Library

A well-equipped library is the backbone of the institute. According to Bacon – “Good books are the student’s best friend”. The library is a place for all the students to visit regularly. The library of Ramratti Devi College of Pharmacy is housed in a spacious hall, and comprises a stock area with reading room space. The stock of books is sufficient subject-wise with a great number of titles.Ramratti Devi College of Pharmacy has a spacious library consisting of more than 761 books. The students can issue the books as per the library rules with the help of lending cards which are provided to them at the time of admission. Libraries and digital information resources can play a critical role in the education of today’s students. The Institute is providing Internet facility in Library and also Campus with Wi-Fi.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory

Pharmaceutical chemistry is the study of drugs, and it involves drug development. This is a multi-disciplinary field of study that utilizes synthetic organic chemistry in conjunction with developments in biochemistry, computational chemistry, molecular biology, and pharmacology to advance drug discovery. Pharmaceutical chemistry is the application of chemical research techniques to the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. During the early stages of its development, scientists were primarily concerned with the isolation of medicinal agents found in plants. Today, scientists in this field are also equally concerned with the creation of new synthetic drug compounds. Pharmaceutical chemistry is almost always geared toward drug discovery and development. Studying pharmaceutical chemistry allows students to contribute to life-saving remedies, enhance the speed of delivery of new medications, and help others.

Biochemistry & Clinical Pathology Laboratory

Clinical biochemistry refers to the analysis of the blood plasma (or serum) for a wide variety of substances—substrates, enzymes, hormones, etc—and their use in diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Analysis of other body fluids (eg, urine, ascitic fluids, CSF) is also included. One test is very seldom specific to one clinical condition, and basic checklists of factors affecting the most commonly requested analytes are given below. Thus, rather than six tests that merely confirm or deny six possibilities, a well-chosen group of six tests can provide information pointing to a wide variety of different conditions by a process of pattern recognition. Biochemistry tests should be accompanied by full hematology, because evaluation of both together is essential for optimal recognition of many of the most characteristic disease patterns

Pharmaceutics Laboratory

Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the practical aspects of manufacturing, formulation and evaluation of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. The subject also helps the students to acquire knowledge and skill to apply quality assurance principles, including legal and ethical aspects involving drugs, delivering a quality assured product as per the pharmacopoeia, WHO and ISO standards. This well-furnished laboratory at Ramratti Devi College of Pharmacy caters to the practical requirements of the various subjects like dosage form design, physical pharmacy, and dispensing pharmacy. The facilities available in this lab ensure the complete knowledge of manufacturing of different formulation. In this laboratory experiments and research work carried out on formulation of different dosage forms, technology-based experiments as well as Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS). It deals with the study of oral, parenteral, dermal, transdermal and mucosal dosage forms; it also focuses on the preparation and evaluation of cosmetics. It also covers basic topics like development of new drugs, preformulating, along with principles of formulation design. This laboratory is built with an insight into the biotechnology industry with instruments like BOD. Incubator, aseptic room with laminar air flow cabinet and U.V. cabinet, digital oven, incubators, bacterial colony counter and autoclaves. It will help students familiarize with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), design, development and maintenance of aseptic areas, procedure for sterility testing, experiments in biotechnology, growth, cultivation, isolation and identification of microorganisms and microbiological assays.

Human Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy Lab.

This in-person laboratory course is the first half of the laboratory component generally required for a fundamental first-year anatomy and physiology course. This course provides an introduction to the structure and function of the human body. It begins with an orientation to the body and then covers the functions of a generalized cell – the atoms and molecules that make up organic molecules, tissues, organs, organ systems as well as the integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. The focus is on the healthy functioning of the body and consideration of how each system contributes to overall health and the maintenance of homeostasis. This course covers the nervous system and the senses in addition to the endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, urinary, digestive and reproductive systems.Pharmacognosy lab provides adequate facilities for morphological and microscopical studies of cells and tissues in different parts like root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit and seed of natural plants, identification and standardization of crude drugs. This lab provides an opportunity for the students to gain the knowledge of physicochemical properties of the natural products and natural medications also the identification tests, extraction, isolation, detection, determination and the estimation of natural products, quantitative and qualitative analysis of drugs and phytoconstituents extracted from medicinal plants. This lab also provides an opportunity for the students to gain the knowledge of plant tissue culture techniques, crop improvement, hybridization and colonal propagation etc. This lab is well equipped with various instruments like projection microscope, binocular microscope, laminar air flow, incubator, tissue culture station, autoclave, hot air oven, water bath with orbital shaker and vortex shaker.

Social Pharmacy, Model Pharmacy Lab

This lab also aid in training the students to teach about the dispensing of the drugs in a hospital by a pharmacist and about community pharmacy practice. Students in the social pharmacy, model pharmacy Laboratory at the Ramratti Devi College of Pharmacy have the advantage of real-life, hands-on experiences to help them prepare for their rotations and future careers. Students are also required to understand and participate in active-learning activities including understanding prescription, diabetic-foot exams, blood glucose testing, reading of blood pressures, and counseling mock patients on medication utilization. Additional active-learning simulations revolve around filling prescriptions, performing drug-interaction assessments. Also includes activities like professionalism, communication skills, prescription compounding, calculations, use and practice of drug information, physical assessment, devices-use competency, adherence, and medication safety. The course will utilize, problem-based learning and simulated or actual clinical cases to continue development of students’ knowledge base in human disorders and therapeutics and enhance their skills in problem solving, organization, communication, and literature assessment. Students will also learn how to recommend over-the-counter (OTC) products, dietary supplements, natural products and other alternative medicine therapies.
